Heart of the Blue Ridge Sangha is a mindfulness practice group in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, in Roanoke, VA. We are an ongoing PDN supporting member.
We have partnered with a local organization (Total Action Against Poverty) in Roanoke to provide a mindfulness program at the Roanoke Regional Jail. This program began in December, 2010.

We are providing inmates a stress-reduction class based on the meditation practice of the Five Warrior Syllables as described in Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche’s book “Tibetan Sound Healing”.
We have active programs in Albemarle Charlottesville Joint Security Complex in Charlottesville, VA., Oklahoma City Federal penitentiary, Warsaw Prison in WArsaw, Poland, and preparations for programs in Germany, Nederlands, France and Finland.
The teachings and practices of Siddha Yoga are brought to incarcerated men and
women through the Siddha Yoga Meditation Study Courses. The 17 year long Course
lessons describe in simple, down-to-earth language the timeless, transformative wisdom
of yoga. Lessons are received monthly and are free of charge to all who are
incarcerated. They are available in Spanish translation on request. Persons of all
spiritual and religious persuasions are invited to participate. Nearly 5000 inmates are
enrolled in the Courses in over 900 prisons in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Italy, the U.K.,
