Finding Your Way Around PMI

In 2012, PDN-headquarters changed the name of our primary organization to the Prison Mindfulness Institute.  We created a brand new website reflecting our current projects and visions for new endeavors.  The Prison Dharma Network (PDN), here on this NING social-networking website, is now a project of the larger organization, the Prison Mindfulness Institute (PMI).

I know many of you joined the Prison Dharma Network because you are passionate about bringing meditation and mindfulness training to prisoners.  Many of you also have loved ones and friends in prison.

PMI’s new website is full of useful resources that will help you in your own prison-projects or will be helpful to your loved ones inside.

The most common tool I refer people to when they contact our organization is our onlineDirectory of Prison Dharma Organizations.  This amazing tool contains 160+ listings of world-wide organizations running mindfulness-based programs in prisons.  So if you want to see what is happening in your region, this is a great resource to check out:

In addition to the directory, we also have a page of downloadable-printable meditation resources that you can use in your own prison mindfulness classes or mail to a friend or relative inside.

Our Online Resources include:

Besides all of that, we have tips for prison volunteers as well:

Wish We Had Been Told is an enlightening guide to prison volunteering written by Quaker women.  You are also welcome to request a copy of the Prison Dharma Network Volunteer Manual.

We are so excited that you are enthusiastic about bringing mindfulness into prisons.  If there are other ways we can support you, please drop us a line!   info@prisonmindfulness.org
