“Observed But Never Held”

Prisoner Artwork
This poem came in the mail today from a prisoner. The letters we receive are so often astounding – full of gratitude and searching. Proof of the strength of creativity and growth, even in the face of unimaginable hardship.
Across oceans and continents it spreads
like wind
a fire fanned by the seeker
Not all that search find refuge
like vapors
observed but never held
Peace comes at a price of emptiness
like vessels
which contain nothing but truth.
