Updated: Sep 17

We are honored to share that Prison Mindfulness Institute (PMI) has been included in the Conscious Change Collective Map—a growing project dedicated to making visible the global network of organizations working at the intersection of mindfulness, justice, and systemic transformation.

The Challenge We Face

Social injustice, trauma, and isolation are pressing realities—inside prisons, in communities, and across many systems. Leaders, practitioners, formerly incarcerated individuals, and correctional staff are stretched between urgent outer demands and the deep, inner work required for healing. Disconnection, burnout, and lack of resources often leave these efforts isolated, preventing collaboration and shared learning.

The Opportunity to Connect

The Conscious Change Collective Map is a response to this need. It’s a space designed to illuminate the field, spark collaboration, and support the flow of learning and resources. By creating a shared map, organizations become part of a larger ecosystem that holds both reflection and action, healing and justice. The work of transforming systems becomes stronger when it’s rooted in both spirit and strategy.

What PMI Brings to the Map

As PMI is now highlighted on this map, here’s how we’re contributing:

  • We deliver mindfulness-based programs, such as Path of Freedom®, directly inside prisons and correctional facilities.

  • These programs foster self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and compassion among incarcerated individuals.

  • Our work helps shift prison culture—not only easing personal suffering, but encouraging environments that are more humane, just, and healing.

Why This Matters

Being part of the Conscious Change Collective Map puts PMI in good company among organizations around the world pursuing similar goals. It acknowledges that the transformation we hope to see in prisons is part of a much bigger shift—one that includes inner transformation and outer action.

By appearing alongside other justice-centered mindfulness organizations globally, PMI’s inclusion sends a message: meaningful change is happening, and it’s happening together.
